MaryJane Dickens

-

Mary Jane (Cox) Dickens, died peacefully in her home in Albuquerque on September 30, 2017, her family there with love and support during her passing. She was 93 years old.

Mary Jane was born on April 13, 1924 in Lexington, KY, the daughter of Lloyd and Zehra Cox. She had two older brothers, Owen and Bill. After graduation in Lexington, she went to the University of Kentucky. She cut her college career short when she married the love of her life, John W. "Pete" Dickens, in 1944.

In the U.S. Air Force, Pete and Mary Jane raised their four children all over the U.S. and in Germany. They had one daughter, Gwen, and three sons, John, Owen, and Barry. Albuquerque was the duty station they liked the best so they built a home here in 1954 and returned to it after retirement.

Mary Jane and Pete were active in church throughout their lives no matter where they lived. They spent many of their retirement years traveling in their RV around the country to visit family and sightsee. Mary Jane loved life in general; people, dogs, books, and her family, in particular.

She is survived by her brother, Bill Cox; her daughter, Gwen Zollars (Chuck), and sons, John (Jeanne Banks), Owen (Jenny), and Barry (Susan); ten grandchildren; and twelve greatgrandchildren, with one more on the way. Mary Jane leaves an amazing legacy with her family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at La Vida Llena, 10501 Lagrima De Oro NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Please visit our online guestbook for Mary Jane at www.FrenchFunerals.com
