NFL: Defining patriotism for us

- EUGENE J. MCGUIRE Albuquerque

NFL COMMISSIONER Roger Goodell said, “Like many of our fans, we believe that everyone should stand for the national anthem.” Many of the Germans in 1933 — 35 percent, enough to elect Hitler — believed that “everyone” should be subservient to Adolf and the Nazis. The chutzpah of the NFL remains unbelievable, defining patriotism for everyone.

This is the organization that played a full schedule of games on the Sunday after the assassination of President Kennedy in Dallas, claiming “Jack would have wanted it.”
