Thanks, APD, for being so kind to someone in need
A WOMAN, obviously struggling with a mental illness, decides to lie down in the middle of the intersection of Second and Lomas NW outside my office (Oct. 2). Rather than yanking her up and mishandling her, two Albuquerque Police Department officers patiently talked her into standing up and going over to the sidewalk. They spent a lot of time with her afterward and got her some help.
It didn’t make the paper or the TV news, but it was encouraging to see these officers be so sensitive and humane to this lady. Kudos, APD.
