BASKETBALL
INTERIM COUCH
NAMED: A tiny bit of clarity seems to have come to a position that has been consistently shrouded in mystery. While never acknowledging that Capital High girls basketball coach Dale Lucero was not retained, Santa Fe Public Schools hired Jonathan Salazar for the job, then placed him on leave in August amid charges of aggravated assault, battery against a household member and criminal damage to property. SFPS announced Thursday that Darren Casados has been tabbed as the interim coach.
Casados previously had been a varsity assistant at Santa Fe Prep from 2011-15, helping lead the Griffins to a 91-27 record, with three district championships, and four state tournament appearances. He moved to Nina Otero Community School as the eighthgrade boys basketball coach in 2015, remaining there through last season.
