Report: Goodell wants a jet for life

Dallas RB Elliott is leaving the country

-

Embattled NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is asking for lifetime use of a private jet as part of his new compensation package, ESPN reported Sunday.

Goodell’s current contract runs out in March of 2019 and the commish and owners are currently working on a five-year contract extension.

ESPN, citing sources familiar with the negotiations, reported that Goodell is also looking for lifetime health insurance for his family. That’s on top of the reported $50 million he wants in salary per year.

The NFL’s Compensation Committee will hold a conference call today to “discuss and further push ahead the proposed extension” for Goodell.

DOLPHINS: Jay Cutler is on a roll. At least that’s what Miami coach Adam Gase contends.

Gase said Cutler, who has been up-and-down this season, is very much on an upswing heading into tonight’s game at the Carolina Panthers.

“Jay, really, the last two games he has played well,” Gase said of his quarterback. “The Jets game, that was probably one of the best games that he has had. Then this last game, I think he topped it.”

The Dolphins (4-4) are riding back-to-back losses as they prepare to face the Panthers (6-3).

ELLIOTT: Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott plans to spend time out of the country to clear his head and train during his six-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, per a source, confirming an NFL Network report.

Elliott is taking a page out of the Tom Brady playbook. The Patriots quarterback spent a week in Italy during his fourgame suspension in 2016.

49ERS: Game No. 10 was far from perfect but it produced the 49ers’ overdue, first victory Sunday under coach Kyle Shanahan, who got showered with cups of water with a minute left in their 31-21 triumph over the visiting Giants.

So ends the 49ers’ longest winless start to a season in their 72-year history.

“You lose 9 in a row, you learn to savor the moment and enjoy these,” Shanahan said. “It was tough work to get our first win and we got it. The guys knew how much it meant to me and I knew how much it meant to them.”

TAKING A KNEE: Three players took a knee during the national anthem before the Giants game at San Francisco, as the rest of the league stood during Veterans Day weekend.

49ers Eric Reid and Marquise Goodwin knelt, as did Giants defensive end Olivier Vernon.

Titans receiver Rishard Matthews, a former all-state wide receiver at Clovis, walked onto the field holding hands with soldiers and stood with teammates for the anthem for the first time since President Donald Trump criticized players for protesting.

BENGALS: Vontaze Burfict, among the NFL’s most suspended and most frequently fined players, was ejected for the first time in his six-year career. He was booted Sunday for making contact with an official. The former Arizona State star was suspended for the first three games of the 2016 season for his vicious hit on Steelers receiver Antonio Brown during a playoff game.

SAINTS: The Saints are the fifth team in NFL history to rush for at least 295 yards and six TDs in a single game, joining the 1940 Chicago Bears (Dec. 8, 1940), 1950 New York Giants (Nov. 19, 1950), 1951 Los Angeles Rams (Nov. 18, 1951) and 1957 Cleveland Browns (Nov. 24, 1957).
