Clorinda Lucero

Clorinda Lucero, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on November 17, 2017 in Albuquerque,

NM.

Clorinda was preceded in death by her parents, David and Aurelia Lucero; siblings David, Antonia Mares, Robert, Max, Arthur and Isaac Lucero.

Clorinda is survived by her children Cecilia Hoffman, Arthur R. (Janice) Lucero; grandchildren Bill (Dianna) Hoffman, Lisa (Erik) Dunkle, Jamie Hoffman, Michelle Laskowski, Greg (Leslie) Lucero, Katie Lucero; greatgrandchildren Rachael Noa, Stephanie and Evan Worth; Nikki, Kyrsten and Kevin Dunkle; Allison and Gage Lucero; great-greatgrandchildren Ani and Aurora Noa; sister-in-law Virginia Lucero. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clorinda was born on February 19, 1919 in Chacon, New Mexico and considered Dawson, New Mexico her hometown where she resided for most of her childhood and early adult life. In 1950, after the coal mining town of Dawson closed, Clorinda and her family moved to Albuquerque. She spent her career working for the Federal Government where she held positions in San Francisco and Albuquerque. Following her retirement, Clorinda spent the next 25 years as the primary caregiver for her family. In the later part of her life she resided with her son, Arthur and his family, where she was able to enjoy a daily life of reading, collecting and playing with her youngest greatgrandchildren. An expert storyteller with a vivid imagination, Clorinda lived her life from one adventure to the next. One of her greatest joys was spending time at her cabin in northern New Mexico with family. Clorinda had a playful spirit and was still turning cartwheels, walking on her hands and climbing trees to amuse her grandchildren well into her 60’s. She frequently entertained family and friends with letters and colorful stories of her childhood in Dawson. Whether it was a family road trip to Maine, visiting her grandchildren in Oregon and North Carolina, salmon fishing in Alaska or visiting Old Faithful in Yellowstone, Clorinda loved to travel with family and enjoyed taking over twenty trips around the country in her later years. With a keen sense of humor, she made the most benign daily events entertaining and brought smiles and belly laughs to those around her. Clorinda will be greatly missed by all.

Clorinda will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
