Lila Mae Peregrine Robillard

Lila Mae Peregrine Robillard, born in Newell, SD on November 2, 1922, to Glenn and May Boyner Peregrine, passed away on November 30, 2017, in Albuquerqu­e, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert (Bob) G. Robillard; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Barbara Peregrine and Bill and Delores Peregrine; her nephew, Dale Schumann; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles Schumann, Robert Knisel, Gregory Robillard, Charles Robillard, Jr, Doris Knisel, and Shirley Robillard. Lila grew up in and attended school through the seventh grade in Mud Butte, SD and went to eighth grade and high school in Sturgis, SD. After her high school graduation in 1940, she attended the University of Minnesota. She lived in California from 19421945, working at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach during WW II. Lila and Bob, who was from Staten Island, NY married in Mexico in 1945. Lila lived in Sturgis with her parents while Bob was overseas with the Navy Air Corps. She and Bob moved to Staten Island in 1947, where they raised their two children. The couple moved to Milford, NJ in 1972 and then back to Sturgis in 1985, when Bob retired. They moved to Albuquerqu­e, NM in 2006 to be near their daughter.

Lila served as a PTA officer in both Staten Island and Union Township, NJ and was an honorary life member of the National Congress of PTA Associatio­ns. She also volunteere­d in the Union Township library for 13 years. In Sturgis, she volunteere­d for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), hospital auxiliary, Chamber of Commerce, and school library, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She received a reward for serving 1800 hours with the RSVP. In Albuquerqu­e, she coordinate­d donations by seniors of food, clothing, and school supplies to the Albuquerqu­e Public Schools Title I Homeless Students project. This included a "Make a Difference Day" drive that was recognized by the national "Make a Difference Day" committee.

Lila is survived by her son, Robert Robillard and his wife, Donna Benz, of Bound Brook, NJ; her daughter, Renee Robillard, and her husband, James Lynch, of Albuquerqu­e; her brother, Robert Peregrine, and his wife, Donna, of Rapid City, SD; her sister, Betty Schumann, of Fairmont, MN; and many wonderful Peregrine and Robillard nieces and nephews and their children.

Services are taking place in Sturgis, SD where she will be laid to rest with her husband at Black Hills National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons in Lila’s name may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis or the Sturgis Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
