James P. Martin, age 76, loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, great grandfathe­r and friend, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, November 21, 2017. Jim was known for his love of family and adventure. He enjoyed being a pilot, fishing, turkey hunting, traveling and his Wednesday lunch bunch at La Salita.

James is survived by his wife, Kaye; his children, Pam, Holly, Trish (Scott) and James (Michelle); also missing him will be his five grandchild­ren and three great- grandchild­ren. He is survived by one brother.

Jim was born in Houston, TX, and attended Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, where he graduated with an Electrical Engineerin­g degree. Upon graduation he joined Sandia National Laboratori­es in Albuquerqu­e, NM. He then furthered his education at UNM where he obtained his Masters of Science in Electrical Engineerin­g. During Jim’s years at Sandia he worked on many exciting programs that dealt with Safety and Security nationally and internatio­nally. Jim retired at the age of 55 and began traveling full time with his wife in their RV for the next 17 years. During this time, he joined the local chapter of the Elks and served in several capacities within his RV clubs.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to the NM Parkinson’s Disease Coalition P.O. Box 35091, 87176.
