-

Jimmy Brown, beloved husband and father, passed away November 24, 2017, at his Albuquerque, New Mexico home surrounded by his family. He lost a yearlong battle with cancer at the age of 83. Jimmy was born August 22, 1934, in Marlow Oklahoma, to Biffle and Lawana Brown, who preceded him in death. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a drill instructor and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller Supervisor after 30 years of service. He was a pilot and instructor, avid shooter, fisherman, woodworker, golfer, and legendary joke and story teller.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Brown; brother and wife, Steve and Liz Brown; six daughters, Debbie and David Brasher, Kim Monarco, Torey and Bruce VanKlaveren, Tracy and Mark Brummet, Stephanie Brown-Wade, and Nicole Brown; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and his loyal dog Zoey.

We were blessed with many valuable lessons of life from Jimmy such as: The squeaky wheel gets the oil, can’t never did anything, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, and you mess with the bull you get the horn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Jimmy’s name at wo undedwarriorproject.org.

The Funeral will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church 12500 Carmel Ave NE 87122 on December 4, 2017 at 10 am, reception following. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Annette Fontaine and Dr. Susan Guo, as well as the caring staff at the Cancer Center of New Mexico.
