Durr scores 25 points to lead Louisville women to easy win

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Vin­cent Ed­wards scored 15 points, Car­son Ed­wards fin­ished with 10 points and No. 21 Pur­due dom­i­nated Val­paraiso 80-50 on Thurs­day night.

With 8 min­utes re­main­ing in the first half, the Boil­er­mak­ers held a 15-12 lead when Carsen Ed­wards’ fast­break layup ig­nited a 21-4 run over the rest of the half.

Pur­due (9-2) used ag­gres­sive defense and fast-paced of­fense, to force 11 turnovers in the first half that re­sulted in 11 points for the Boil­er­mak­ers. Isaac Haas fin­ished with 10 points for Pur­due.

Joe Bur­ton led the Cru­saders (8-1) with 19 points. TEXAS A&M-COM­MERCE 85, EAST­ERN NEW MEX­ICO 78: In Com­merce, Texas, Devin Pul­lum scored 19 points as ENMU (3-6, 0-3 Lone Star Con­fer­ence) fell to A&MCom­merce (8-0, 3-0).

TARLETON STATE 85, WEST­ERN NEW MEX­ICO 59: In Stephenville, Texas, Tarleton State (5-3, 2-1 Lone State Con­fer­ence) hit 10 three-point­ers to hold off West­ern New Mex­ico (2-7, 0-3).


No. 4 LOUISVILLE 79, VAN­DER­BILT 57: In Louisville, Ky., Asia Durr scored 25 points and Louisville over­came a first-half lull to beat Van­der­bilt.

The Cardinals held the Com­modores score­less for more than a quar­ter, turn­ing a 33-29 deficit with 4:38 left in the first half into a 24-point lead with 3:56 left in the third. Rachel Bell made a 3-pointer with 3:28 left in the third pe­riod to end the Com­modores’ drought.

No. 10 WEST VIR­GINIA 73, PITTS­BURGH 52: In Mor­gan­town, W.Va., Teana Muldrow had 20 points and 11 re­bounds as West Vir­ginia beat archri­val Pitts­burgh in the first matchup be­tween the schools since 2012.

The Moun­taineers cruised to the vic­tory af­ter open­ing the game on a 12-0 run.

No. 13 FLORIDA STATE 84, STET­SON 39: In Tal­la­has­see, Fla., AJ Alix hit five 3-point­ers and scored 19 points and Florida State cruised to a win over Stet­son.

No. 14 DUKE 85, UNC GREENS­BORO 54: In Durham, N.C., Erin Mathias scored a ca­reer-high 24 points, Lexie Brown was close to a quadru­ple-dou­ble and Duke rolled to a win over UNC Greens­boro.

Brown had 20 points, nine as­sists, eight steals, which tied her ca­reer high, and seven re­bounds.

No. 24 MICHI­GAN 82, MAR­QUETTE 76: In Ann Ar­bor, Mich., Kate­lynn Fla­herty scored seven of her 27 points in the fi­nal two min­utes and Michi­gan took the lead in the third quar­ter be­fore hold­ing off Mar­quette.

No. 25 CAL­I­FOR­NIA 89, SAN DIEGO 64: In Berke­ley, Calif., Kris­tine Anigwe scored 26 points on 11-of-14 shoot­ing, and Cal­i­for­nia turned back San Diego for Lind­sey Got­tlieb’s 200th ca­reer win. TARLETON STATE 87, WEST­ERN NEW MEX­ICO 61: In Stephenville, Texas, Takiyah Lopez scored 15 points for WNMU (0-8, 0-3 Lone Star Con­fer­ence) in its loss to TSU (4-4, 1-2). TEXAS A&M-COM­MERCE 64, EAST­ERN NEW MEX­ICO 57: In Com­merce, Texas, Mikaehla Con­nor scored 20 points but ENMU (3-5, 0-3 Lone Star Con­fer­ence) fell short in over­time against A&M-Com­merce (5-4, 2-1).
