Law firm raises $10K for Paws and Stripes

- JOURNAL STAFF REPORTS

Albuquerque-based law firm Giddens, Gatton & Jacobus recently awarded a check for $10,000 to the local nonprofit Paws and Stripes. The funds were raised at GGJ’s second annual “A Night at the Ritz,” a Roaring ’20s-themed dinner, dance and silent auction.

The event, funded by the law firm, took place at the Tanoan Country Club. All proceeds from ticket sales, the silent auction and other contributions were included in the donation.

Paws and Stripes provides service dogs for military veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and brain injuries through integrating service dog training and education with mental health support. Begun in 2010, the organization matches dogs that are adopted from local shelters and trained by expert service dog trainers with veterans who would benefit from a therapy dog. This much-needed service, which can cost between $10,000 and $60,000, is offered to veterans for free.

“Two of our partners and several members of our staff have ties with the U.S. military, so we felt Paws and Stripes was a good fit for us,” said George “Dave” Giddens, founding partner of GGJ. “We were extremely pleased that we reached our goal in donations

for Paws and Stripes this year.”

Giddens, Gatton & Jacobus has a staff of five attorneys who serve individuals, small businesses and bankers in the areas of bankruptcy, creditor’s rights, personal injury, employment law, business law and real estate law. Individuals may contact the firm at 505-271-1053, or visit its website at www. giddenslaw.com.
