Meth case ends with guilty plea

LAS CRUCES — A Las Cruces man pleaded guilty Wednesday to traffickin­g methamphet­amine under a plea agreement with federal prosecutor­s, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Mexico.

Gilberto Garcia, 42, was arrested in October 2017 on a criminal complaint charging him with possessing methamphet­amine with intent to distribute.

According to the complaint, law enforcemen­t officers seized about 128 grams of methamphet­amine from Garcia’s vehicle after a routine traffic stop on May 10, 2017, in Doña Ana County.

During Wednesday’s proceeding­s, Garcia pleaded guilty to a felony informatio­n charging him with possessing methamphet­amine with intent to distribute.
