Dawna Johnson Radtke (Grammie), born November 24, 1927, in Beaver,

PA passed away peacefully on January 21, 2018, at the age of 90.

Dawna was raised in Western Pennsylvania but moved west in

1956 with two year old Judy and Cindy on the way. She moved to be out of the gray and gloom to the open, blue skies of New Mexico. Dawna started teaching elementary school and continued until retirement. Along the way, she went back to school at UNM to achieve her Master’s of Education.

Soon after retirement, Dawna and her beloved husband, Dick, started their travel adventures. They flew all over the world, pulled their RV to many states and enjoyed the sights. Many of their USA travels included their granddaughters, Jaymie and Nikki.

She was an active member of Paradise Hills Methodist Church in Albuquerque and various other ministries. These included Kairos Prison Ministry at the New Mexico women’s prisons, Walk to Emmaus, medical aid for Mexico, the food bank and other mission efforts. She led one of the Walk to Emmaus weekends with both of her daughters in attendance.

Dawna’s passing was preceded by her parents, Clarence and Loretta Conrad; husband, Carl Radtke; brother, Clarence Conrad; two nephews, Mark and John Conrad; and son-in-law, Jerry Pogemiller. She is survived by daughters, Judy Nail and husband Bill, and Cindy Brigham and husband Ronn; Richard Radtke and wife Paula; Carla Pogemiller; grandchildren, Jaymie Brigham, Kim Carrasco and husband Sam, Nikki Radtke; greatgrandchildren Josh and Greg Carrasco; sister, Janet Roush in New Jersey; sister-in-law, Carolyn Conrad; and nieces, Loretta Rooney and husband Tim, Kim Roush and husband Scott, Terri Waller and husband Steve.

Dawna will be missed by her family and many friends, but her never ending smile and laughter will make heaven even brighter.
