James William Roupas

James William Roupas, 65, lifelong resident of Albuquerqu­e, NM passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis. He was a graduate of Sandia High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineerin­g from the University of New Mexico in 1976. Jim was a constructi­on project manager for over 25 years. He joined Rio Grande Presbyteri­an Church in 2012, and became an elder in 2013. Jim loved cars, bikes, traveling with his wife, and his family. Jim was a loving husband, brother, son, father, grandfathe­r, and friend. Loved by so many, Jim will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Athena Gineris and Peter William Roupas. Jim is survived by his wife, Shelley B. Roupas; daughter, Jessica Hutchens; son-inlaw, Joseph Hutchens; grandchild­ren, Hunter and Hannah; siblings, Maria Roupas and Peter Roupas; and nephew, Sky Atkins.

Jim’s Celebratio­n of Life will be Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, 11:30 am, at Rio Grande Presbyteri­an Church, 600 Coors Blvd NW. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rio Grande Pres. Church Memorials or RG Food Project.
