Top-ranked UConn routs Tulane to improve to 20-0 for 11th time

LAS CRUCES — Brooke Salas had 24 points and 14 rebounds, her sixth doubledoub­le of the season, to lead New Mexico State to a 70-62 win Saturday over visiting Western Athletic Conference foe MissouriKa­nsas City.

The victory helped the Aggies (11-9, 5-1) take the league lead.

The Aggies started the game on a 12-0 run and by game’s end extended the number of quarters they have not trailed to eight.

UMKC (7-14, 3-3), however, went on a 12-0 run early in the fourth quarter, closing to 52-48.

Gia Pack had 17 points and hit four free throws over the final 24 seconds to cement the victory for the Aggies.

WEST TEXAS A&M 58, WNMU 46: In Canyon, Texas, Jade Botelho scored a gamehigh 14 points but the 17th-ranked Buffs (16-4, 8-4 Lone Star) used a 25-15 fourthquar­ter surge to thwart an upset bid by the Mustangs (0-20, 0-12).

ENMU 68, UT-PERMIAN BASIN 65: In Odessa, Texas, senior Daeshi McCants poured in 20 points, grabbed 19 rebounds, dished out four assists and blocked two shots to lead Eastern New Mexico (11-8, 7-5 Lone Star). The Greyhounds converted 24 offensive rebounds into 28 second-chance points in defeating the Falcons (6-14, 4-8).

CHADRON STATE 66, NMHU 57: In Las Vegas, N.M., Ari Baca poured in 32 points for the Cowgirls (4-16, 2-13 Rocky Mountain) but the visiting Eagles (4-17, 2-13) snapped a 13-game losing streak.

No. 1 UCONN 98, TULANE 45: In Storrs, Conn., Katie Lou Samuelson scored 15 of her 19 points in the first half to lead the Huskies (9-0 American Athletic Conference), who are 20-0 start to the season for the 11th time. The Huskies shot 72 percent from the floor.

Kayla Manuiriran­gi led Tulane (11-10, 3-5) with 13 points.

No. 6 TEXAS 87, IOWA STATE 55: In Austin, Texas, Ariel Atkins scored 15 points, Lashann Higgs added 14 and the Longhorns (16-4, 7-2 Big 12) routed the Cyclones (9-12, 3-7).

Emily Durr led Iowa State with 20 points.

No. 12 OHIO STATE 78, MICHIGAN STATE 62: In Columbus, Ohio, Kelsey Mitchell scored 23 points to become the Big Ten’s career scoring leader and help Ohio State (17-5, 6-3) end a three-game losing streak.

Mitchell, a 5-foot-8 senior guard, has scored 3,098 points, passing Rachel Banham, who scored 3,093 in her career at Minnesota. Jenna Allen had 16 points for the Spartans (15-8, 4-5).

No. 19 OKLAHOMA STATE 80, TEXAS TECH 62: In Stillwater, Okla., Kaylee Jensen had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Loryn Goodwin had 20 points, eight assists and five steals for Oklahoma State (15-5, 6-3 Big 12).

Jada Terry had 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Lady Raiders (7-14, 1-9).

No. 24 TCU 62, OKLAHOMA 58: In Fort Worth, Lauren Heard scored 12 points and Amber Ramirez scored all nine of her points in the final two minutes for TCU (155, 6-3 Big 12).

Shaina Pellington led Oklahoma (10-11, 5-5) with 19 points.
