UNM rocks again in the classroom
University of New Mexico athletes registered a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average, tying for the fourthbest semester since UNM began keeping records in 1986, the school said this week. The GPA for UNM’s student-athletes was higher than the general population.
The 3.25 marked the 11th straight semester that UNM’s student-athletes have achieved at least a 3.2 grade-point average, and it ran their streak of consecutive semesters with at least a 3.0 grade-point average to 19. Nine of the 18 programs recorded GPAs in the top five in program history. Men’s golf (3.65), men’s tennis (3.62), beach volleyball (3.84), women’s skiing (3.95), women’s soccer (3.75) and women’s track & field/cross country (3.63) all had their second-highest GPAs ever.
Male athletes were 3.02, females at 3.57.
