HOROSCOPES BY HOLIDAY

-

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Jan. 28): That sharp wit, your sense of humor, the really specific things you surround yourself with — it’s all working to create this bubble of you-ness that helps you be very effective, winning and charismatic. You’ll still have your doubts, but they cause you to learn more and take risks, too. In April, the swelling fruit will come down. Leo and Virgo adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 45, 16, 40, 48 and 10.

ARIES (March 21-April 19): Find a soft place in your heart for someone whose operating system is wired differently (oh, so differently) than yours. From this compassionate place, you’ll bridge the communication gap.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): You’ve a formidable competitor. Good. This will keep you on your game. Know your assets, and work them hard. Opportunity is everywhere you look, once you adjust your vision.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21): Get out there and spread your smile, shake hands, say hi. You’ll love what happens. Either you’re a networking genius or you’re just luckier than you’ve been in a long time.

CANCER (June 22-July 22): It’s your empathy. Those you meet are inclined to open up to you in unexpected ways. Some of the information you learn, well, you’ll wish you didn’t know, but that’s just part of your gift. You can handle it.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): To begin with the end in mind is usually the best way to attack your endeavors, and today is no different. Just know that the plan will change as you go, and stay flexible.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): You’re not sure whether you’re driving the goal or the goal is driving you, but it doesn’t matter. What’s important is the drive itself. You have an edge because you try for goals before others even realize they are desirable.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23): Obviously, you exist, but it’s time to remind everyone, especially yourself. Take up as much space as possible. Walk the parameters of your territory. Gesture broadly. Make waves in the air. Be the force.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21): Stick to your original plan. It’s not ideal for all, but switching things will be too inconvenient and confusing at this point. Next time, you can start fresh with the new information you’ve gathered.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Optimism is your natural inclination. Even when circumstances seem to be going in a disappointing direction, you choose hope. You think better and better happens.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Intuitive forces will guide you only if you acknowledge their existence. Otherwise, they’ll go quiet. You don’t have to heed all the signals, and indeed you should not. But give a sign that you’re noticing them.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): You’re not trying to get ahead, to win, to conquer; no, you’re just trying to survive in this game you’re playing. These higher levels are more challenging, and it takes greater skill to keep up, but you’re developing it. Believe.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Don’t want to do the hard stuff? Do the easy stuff then. Or do one tiny corner of the hard stuff. See, you shouldn’t have to suffer or stress yourself out. Take this slowly.

FORECAST FOR THE WEEK AHEAD: The short message of this week: Honor your intuition.

What is the difference between instinct and intuition? Instinct is a biological impulse reaction to the moment. Intuition is a deeper insight into the moment based on a wide body of knowledge. Of course, we should also honor our instincts, but it almost goes without saying. Those animal behaviors usually overtake us whether we want to honor them or not. Intuition, however, is nuanced and complex. It takes greater powers of discipline and discernment to follow an intuitive style of navigation. After all, how do you know whether it’s your intuition talking and not some weird remnant of bad advice, random advertising or general wrongheadedness? So many thoughts run through us in a day, many of them not even our own. How do we know which, if any, are true intuition?

This week of the blue moon, which is a supermoon in creative Leo accompanied by a lunar eclipse, there are three things to acknowledge. 1) Intuition is real. There’s a part of you that knows everything. 2) Intuition is relaxed. If you’re stressing or forcing it, it’s not worth the effort. You’ll get what you’re ready for and only that. 3) Intuition is creative play. It’s symbolic, sensual and meant to help you learn and grow. Have fun with it!
