What you need to know about Utah State: With no seniors and just two juniors on the roster, the Aggies rank among the nation’s youngest teams. Finkbeiner has tried 10 starting lineups but has been unable to find consistent scoring. USU ranks 10th in the Mountain West in offense at 58.9 points per game and has been held under 60 points 12 times. The Aggies are 0-12 in those games. On the other hand, Utah State plays solid defense and has wins over San Diego State, Nevada and Fresno State — all earned at home. USU is a tall, physical team but quick point guard Eliza West may be the focus of UNM’s defense. West is not a big scorer but does a good job breaking down defenses and setting up open teammates.

What you need to know about New Mexico: The Lobos have worked hard to upgrade their defense recently and saw encouraging results in Saturday’s overtime loss at Colorado State. Now they need to regain a little offensive swagger to break out of a five-losses-in-six-games funk. Beynon has racked up 71 points in UNM’s last two games but has not received consistent help. Buck and Lapeyrolerie have hit a combined 27.8 percent from 3-point range in the Lobos’ past five games, allowing opponents to double- and triple-team Nunn inside. Nor has UNM’s bench provided much scoring punch of late. Two Bryan free throws accounted for the team’s only bench points at Colorado State. Rams reserves scored 14 points.
