James Hawk

James Hawk, 61, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, was called home to his Heavenly Father on January 28, 2018 after a courageous eight month battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. He entered this world, bringing joy with him, on February 22, 1956 in Albuquerqu­e, NM.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Hawk; daughter, Jadyn and son-in-law, Shane Walker; parents, John and Cecile Hawk; siblings, Julie Hawk, Jayne Box, and John Hawk and wife, Ann; his beloved nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Nancy Rankin.

James grew up in Albuquerqu­e, NM. He graduated from Del Norte High School in 1974. James served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Roanoke, Virginia mission during 1977 and 1978. In 1980 James received an electronic­s degree from Albuquerqu­e Te chnical/Vocational Institute. James and Carol were married on April 22, 1980 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They have lived in Midland, Texas for 37 years. In December of 2017, James retired from the Midland Independen­t School District after working in the technology department for 35 years. James was a devoted husband and father. He liked to spend his free time with his family. James had a serving heart and was always giving of his time and resources to help friends in need. James has served in many positions in his church and had a strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and that he will live with his family again in heaven. He was a humble and faithful servant of God. James was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 4805 Gateway St. Midland, Texas. Burial to follow on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico at Sunset Memorial Park located at 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
