God Bless America, and how’s everybody?

■ Groundhog Day is celebrated in Punxatawney, continuing a Pennsylvania Dutch tradition of weather forecasting going way back. It’s adaptable. President Trump walked outside this morning and saw that he’s still president, and traditionally that means six more weeks of comedy.

■ The U.S. Census Bureau reports that the birth rate in the U.S. fell for the eighth straight year as population experts tell Congress that birth control is allowing the Millennial generation to delay having families. It worries automakers, too. A recent study revealed that condoms prevent mini-vans.

■ President Trump addressed a bitterly divided Capitol chamber at his State of the Union speech Tuesday. It’s weird when half the crowd is cheering and the other half is glaring. I get the same reaction when I tell a Hillary joke at the Comedy Store, and then they switch when I tell a Trump joke.

■ President Trump signed an executive order Wednesday reopening Guantanamo Bay prison to house terrorist fighters who have been captured on the battlefield. With cameras rolling, he signs every executive order Donald J. Trump with an elaborate oversized signature. The J. stands for genius.
