Company of Thieves, Supernationals, Santa Fe Film Fest on tap
Genevieve Schatz is riding around in a van, touring the country. Yes, it’s physically demanding. But after a few years off the road touring regularly, it’s good to be back.

Schatz is a member of the rock band Company of Thieves.
The band recently released its first single in six years, which comes after a three-year hiatus from touring.
Schatz has a new appreciation for being on the road.
“I feel physically younger and stronger than ever,” she says. “When we were teenagers, I was a vegetarian and I was getting sick all the time. Now, I’m eating like an athlete. I get enough protein to use for fuel for the day. I’m making sure I’m drinking (water) and stretching more. It’s made a huge difference.”
Company of Thieves is also preparing to release an EP at the end of February. The band is opening for Walk the Moon and will make a stop on Monday, Feb.

The first month of the year is now in the past, and there’s plenty going on.

I got a chance to Skype with South African guitarist Derek Gripper, who will perform two shows in New Mexico. He’s leaving his home for a U.S. tour and will return to his hometown of Cape Town, South Africa, where there is a water shortage. Take a look at Page 21, to see how he’s handling it.
