SO PEOPLE want to cut UNM Football to “Rebuild” Basketball to what level? Any way you look at it, UNM Basketball has always been a decent midmajor. That’s it. Without football there would be no basketball either, but you don’t get that. Have fun with your season tickets to skiing and cross country.

WOW! SO THE guys who preach and require responsibility, hard work and commitment from their athletes are now floating a wonderful plan to forgive their outrageous debt. If they pull this off, they will create another problem — digruntled fans and students who have been punked! UNM needs to step up and show some leadership. Unbelievable!

ANYONE WHO thinks UNM will be nationally relevant if they drop football needs to be drug tested. It will never happen. Instead all available resources should be marshalled to make UNM football a winner. If you win, the fans show up. That is the way this place has always been. We as a community take so little pride in the effort to win.

I AM PROBABLY going to give up my UNM season football tickets after 30 plus years. It is getting harder for me to walk long distances and the parking for games is atrocious. I arrived late for one game last year, the very primitive dirt public parking lot southwest of the stadium was sold out, requiring me to walk from Gibson ,and on top of that park illegally. Thepublic lot that was sold out is unmarked, all dirt, ungraded . This is bush league UNM. C’Mon!

UNM BASEBALL (is) having a losing season. Maybe too many New Mexicans?

JOE FRANKLIN’S salary should be increased because of his and his team’s achievements. No one ever said track and field would bring in the fans and money. The notoriety he and his team has brought to the university is priceless. … The university, with all that’s going on needs some good cheer. Also I don’t blame Franklin for not leaving the stage at the hall of fame banquet as his team won a national championship. What national championships did the other coaches achieve?
