VOLUNTEERS WILDLIFE RESCUE NM,
annual volunteer training. Wildlife Rescue Clinic volunteers are the backbone of the organization. All volunteer positions are important, and many opportunities exist. Training sessions are Saturday, April 14, and Saturday, April 21, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.. Mammal training is Saturday, April 21 2:30-5 p.m.. Each day has a halfhour lunch break. We provide snacks and water, but encourage you to bring your own lunch. Cost of training manual is $25. Training will be held at the Wildlife Rescue Clinic, 2901 Candelaria NW (located at the entrance to the Rio Grande Nature Center) Parking at the Nature Center will be $3. NEW MEXICO KIDS MATTER,
needs CASA volunteers. A CASA volunteer is a court appointed, trained and committed adult who ensures that each child’s individual needs remain a priority in an over-burdened child welfare system. They get to know the child while also gathering information from the child’s family, teachers, doctors, caregivers and anyone else involved in the child’s life in order to make independent and informed recommendations to help the judge decide what’s best for the child. If you are looking for a meaningful and enriching volunteer opportunity in Bernalillo county and want to do something about child abuse, CASA is right for you. READWEST,
needs volunteer tutors for Adult Basic Literacy Learners in the Westside Albuquerque and Rio Rancho areas. They help adults learn to speak, read and write in English. To help an adult only requires one day a week for 2 hours and 1 hour of lesson planning or grading homework. They offer free tutor training and tons of volunteer support. Tutor orientation will be held Thursday, Mar. 22 at 10 a.m. or 6 p.m.. Tutor training is Saturday, Mar. 24 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at ReadWest. QUINTESSENCE CHORAL ARTISTS OF THE SOUTHWEST,
is seeking volunteers who love choral music to help support the singers at concerts throughout the season. All concerts are held in area churches. an adult literacy program, is participating in A Community Thrives® a USA TODAY national campaign to support important causes. This is a fundraiser where you can stay home! If Reading Works raised $3,000, it will be eligible to receive a large grant. The Board of Directors is personally matching all donations up to $1,500. DONATIONS WINGS FOR LIFE INTERNATIONAL,
L.I.F.E. (Life-skills Imparted to Families through Education) is requesting donations of clothing and school supplies. Infants to elderly, all sizes appreciated. Wings will host its annual Back-To-School Fashion Shown on Monday, Aug. 7 and requesting clothes for all ages and sizes to be donated.
