Plant brings jobs
Corrugated cardboard printing operation to create 120 positions in Santa Teresa area
Corrugated Synergies International, based in Renton, Wash., is expanding to Santa Teresa and bringing with it 120 manufacturing jobs.
The company will invest more than $31 million in infrastructure, production equipment and renovation of its new Santa Teresa facility to print corrugated cardboard, according to a news release from the Governor’s Office.
The company is calling its New Mexico operation Visual Impact Preprint LLC. It chose New Mexico for expansion over Nevada and Texas, after Gov. Susana Martinez and members of the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance visited its corporate headquarters, the news release said.
“It really is a big win for us,” said Jerry Pacheco, president and CEO of the Border Industrial Association based in Santa Teresa. “This is a deal we have worked on — it’s going on four years now.”
Corrugated Synergies will receive up to $1 million in state Local Economic Development Act funds.
“We are proud to be making a longterm investment in New Mexico by placing our newest manufacturing facility in Santa Teresa,” said John Perullo, company CEO and president.
The operation will digitally print corrugated sheets at the plant, Perullo told the Journal. It will export to Mexico and may import some materials from there.
“Not only can it help increase our exports to Mexico, it’s also going to help supply our local industrial base,” Pacheco said.
Davin Lopez, president and CEO of the Mesilla Valley alliance, said the expansion “provides further evidence that the Santa Teresa area is now recognized as a premiere location for manufacturing and international trade in the United States.”
