Margaret M. Chavez

Margaret Chavez entered eternal life on Tuesday May 29, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Margie was born in Porter, New Mexico and raised in Cañon. She graduated from Bernalillo High School. She was the oldest of 12 children.

Margie married Isaac Segura Chavez in 1958. During his 27-year service in the Air Force, Margie and Isaac lived in the United States and abroad— Italy, Germany, Clovis, New Mexico, and returned to Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico. The family settled in Martinezto­wn after Isaac’s service was complete.

Margie is survived by Victor Alamos Granillo, her loving companion of 33 years, daughter Liz and son-in-law Joe Polisar; her son Valentino Chavez and Jeanie Gonzales, Jeanie’s children Roy and Kayla; her grand-children, Brooklyn, Savannah, Branden, and Nicolas; her greatgrand-child, Xavier; her sisters and spouses Mary Jane Blake, Helen and Terry Capps, Veronica and Jose Encinias, Reina and Joe Velasquez, Dolores Moore and Roy Spencer; and brother Richard Chavez. Margie was preceded in death by her parents Ricardo and Jenny Chavez, and brothers Onecimo, Alvaro, Orlando, Eugene, and Alvin.

One smiles when thinking of Margie and we can see her smiling back with the love she had for everyone. Margie will always be remembered as having a kind and generous heart. She was known for her strength, love of family and friends, and youthful grace.

Rosary will be held on Monday, June 4th, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Saint Therese Catholic Church, 300 Mildred Ave. NW, Albuquerqu­e, NM 87107. Mass will be held at the Church on Tuesday, June 5th, 2018 at 9 a. m. Burial immediatel­y following at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerqu­e, NM 87107.

Pallbearer­s will be Chris Padilla, Santiago Encinias, Anastacio Zamora, Aaron Tapia, Jr., Onecimo Stephen Chavez, and Jaime Alamos-Granillo. Honorary pallbearer­s are William Dahl and Ruben Eugene Moore.
