Mt. View Telegraph to cease publication

- JOURNAL STAFF REPORT

The Mountain View Telegraph will publish its final issue Thursday, June 14.

The newspaper is owned by Number Nine Media, a sister company of the Journal Publishing Co., which also publishes the Albuquerque Journal. The MVtelegraph.com website will remain active through June 30. After that, web traffic will be routed to ABQjournal.com.

Number Nine Media purchased what was then called the East Mountain Telegraph in 2003. Prior to that, Number Nine had published what was known as the Mountain View Journal. The two newspapers

were merged after the sale.

William P. Lang, president of Journal Enterprises, said the Telegraph staff has done an excellent job serving the area’s readers for more than a decade but said it was no longer economically viable to continue its publication.

“We appreciate the support we have received and the friendships we have made over the years,” Lang said. “The Albuquerque Journal will still be circulated in the area and will continue to serve East Mountain and Estancia Valley readers by covering major news stories and important issues in the Journal.”
