HOLE OF THE WEEK Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Course No. 16

-

Par: 3

Yardage: Black tees, 228; Blue tees, 173; Green tees, 151; Brown tees, 121; Gray tees, 101.

This hole is also known as “Agua Caliente,” translation: hot water. It can play from about 230 yards to just over 100 yards. There are multiple levels of tees. Because of elevation, two tees play two clubs less than actual yardage. It requires a carry over a small lake to a well bunkered green.

After playing this hole several times, you begin to realize that you need to factor in possible swirling winds you may not feel on the tee, which is similar to No. 12 at Augusta National. The green is large and receptive.

If you err ... err to the right. The green appears wide; it angles considerably from front right to back left. A left pin requires a longer carry than center or right. The pond is in play for shots missed left of a front pin. The undulating green is split by a hollow. Course opened: 2000 General manager: Rob Murray Head professional: Lee Sanchez Course yardages: Black, 7,667; Blue, 7,332; Green, 6,845; Brown, 6,351; Gray, 5,846.
