Sheriff: Guard helped Clovis inmates escape
28-year-old staffer arrested in Lubbock Saturday as three men remain at large
Deputies say a jail guard helped three inmates escape the Curry County Detention Center in Clovis on Friday afternoon.
Curry County Sheriff Wesley Waller released a statement saying 28-year-old Sarina Dodson was arrested in Lubbock early Saturday for helping Aaron Davis, 31, Victor Apodaca, 28, and Ricky Sena, 24, escape the detention center around 11 a.m. Friday.
“Evidence was found that suggests the three had inside assistance that enabled their escape,” the release read.
Dodson, who was working at the time of the escape, is behind bars at the Lubbock County Detention Center on charges of aiding a prisoner to escape.
“The 3 escapees remain at large,” the statement read. “An extensive search by law enforcement is continuing.”
The statement does not say what Dodson’s relationship with the inmates was or what led to the escape.
Both the sheriff’s office and detention center declined to comment further.
According to court documents, the inmates escaped from the outdoor recreation area, through three secured doors, and were last seen going north from the jail on foot.
At the time, deputies say the three were wearing white T-shirts, white boxer shorts and white doo-rag style head coverings.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about the escape or whereabouts of the inmates to call 575-769-2335.
