Eduardo (Lalo) Hidalgo, age 96, husband, father, grandpa,brother, uncle and friend left this world to be with our Lord Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Eduardo was born April 5, 1922 in Jarales, NM to Santiago Hidalgo and Ramona Baldonado. He graduated from Belen High School in 1942 and attended Highlands University shortly afterwards. Lalo was a World War II Veteran and honorably served his country as a soldier in the United States Army, 1st Cavalry Division. He was wounded in action during the Asiatic Pacific Theatre on Nov 15, 1944 on the island of Leyte in the Philippine­s and eventually returned home after the war. He worked at Kirtland Air Force Base for 40 years and retired in 1982.

Lalo was married to Erlinda, the love of his life, for 67 years and dedicated his life to the happiness and wellbeing of her, his children and grandchild­ren. Lalo loved spending time with his family and friends at his beloved home away from home in Conchas Dam, NM. He enjoyed visiting local casinos with Erlinda and could always be found at the lake with a cold one in his hand. He was loved and known to his family and friends as "Downtown Lalo Brown". Lalo would always welcome you with a kind smile and never let his children and grandchild­ren leave him without telling them "I love you".

He is survived by his daughters, Diana Herrera and husband Clarence, Margaret Peck and husband Chris; his sons, Larry Hidalgo and wife Elisa, Freddie Hidalgo and wife Christine, Geno Hidalgo and wife Annette; grandchild­ren, Steven Herrera, Monico Jones, Jaysa Jones, Monica Hidalgo, Mario Hidalgo and wife Lauren, Stephen Serna and wife Joann, Chelsi Romero and husband Joshua, Chase Cradit, Alexandra Hidalgo, Gabriel Hidalgo, Alexandra Darling, Jonathan Hidalgo and Taylor Hidalgo; great grandchild­ren, Raymond and Ceci Herrera, Ryan and Haley Herrera, Aidan Jones, Emmie Hernandez, Estevan Hernandez, Mya Serna and Dominic Hidalgo. He leaves behind many cherished primos, primas, nephews, nieces and dear friends. Eduardo was preceded in death by wife Erlinda; son, Eddie Hidalgo; parents, Santiago and Ramona Hidalgo; and many brothers and sisters.

A Rosary and Celebratio­n of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH-Lomas, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerqu­e, NM 87112. Funeral Mass will take place Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11509 Indian School Rd. Albuquerqu­e, NM 87112. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE. Lalo’s family would like to invite family and friends to a reception at the Moose Lodge, 2121 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerqu­e, NM 87102 following interment.
