Grateful for ballot process
WITHOUT ENTERING into all of the ramifications that contribute to the process of our elections, it is more than necessary to ponder again the enormous exercise and appreciate all that make elections possible.
I, for one, refer to the opportunity given me to take a very small part in our recent primary election. We must not forget all the efforts, preparatory procedures, analysis and conclusions that are dealt with at every stage of this moment. Realize just what it takes for all of us to exercise our right to vote! If you don’t agree with me, consider some of the “behind the scenes” occurring before, during and after the process we call elections:
The call and acceptance to serve The training and scheduling The position required Selection of location Equipment in many forms: tabulators, applications and permits, ballots, booths, stanchions and systems for voters
Maintenance, delivery and pick up of ballot boxes
The large number of persons in their many levels
The closing of polls and making the results available in a most transparent manner.
Therefore, from the very top to the lower bottom, from every angle possible, we in America are able to pat ourselves on the back and pray that it never ends! CHARLES GRIEGO Albuquerque
