Fugitive caught in Bernalillo
A suspect who evaded authorities in northern New Mexico for over a month has been arrested.
New Mexico State Police spokesman Ray Wilson said a Santa Ana Pueblo police officer spotted 32-year-old Johnny Black around noon Wednesday near Warrior Fuel on U.S. 550 in Bernalillo.
“Black was successfully taken into custody,” he said. He gave no other details on Black’s arrest or how he was found.
The arrest came a day after Santa Fe Crime Stoppers offered a $1,000 reward for Black, who was wanted on charges stemming from two pursuits in Española during which he shot at authorities. Officers almost snared Black in Española on June 30, but he fled.
