Fifteen. That’s the number of Emmy nominations New Mexicomade TV productions garnered during Thursday’s announcement of this year’s honorees.

Netflix’s “Godless” miniseries picked up 12 nominations — many coming in technical areas such as sound editing, casting, music composition, main theme, hairstyling

and cinematography.

The Western series follows Frank Griffin, an outlaw played by Jeff Daniels, as he hunts down former gang member Roy Goode, played by Jack O’Connell.

Hoping for a more peaceful life, Goode had deserted his brotherhood and sought refuge with a widow named Alice Fletcher, played by Michelle Dockery.

An outcast herself, she lives in the isolated (and fictional) town of La Belle, N.M., which is run by women after most of the men were killed in a mining accident.

Both Daniels and Dockery picked up nominations for acting — Daniels for supporting actor and Dockery for lead actress in a limited series or television movie.

Daniels tweeted, “To get two #EmmyNominations, it helps a great deal to be working with writers like Dan Futterman and Scott Frank.”

Daniels also picked up a nomination for his work on “The Looming Tower,” where he worked with Futterman.

Also receiving an acting nomination for “Godless” is Merritt Wever, who is in the race for supporting actress in a limited series or TV.

Series creator Scott Frank was nominated twice — once for writing and once for directing for a limited series, movie or dramatic special.

“Godless” also picked up a nomination for limited series.

Production for the series began in September 2016 and was housed at Santa Fe Studios, though most of the series was shot on location in northern New Mexico.

“It was always New Mexico,” Frank said of his ideal production site. “What’s so funny is back in 2004, it wasn’t economically feasible to film in New Mexico. We looked at Calgary and the like. As you know, a lot of people began filming in New Mexico and it became the option for us to get this made.”

Actor John Leguizamo received a New Mexico-related nomination for his role in “Waco,” which also filmed at Santa Fe Studios. The limited series picked up two more nominations for sound editing and sound mixing.

“Game of Thrones,” which is based on Santa Fe resident George RR Martin’s fantasy series, “A Song of Ice and Fire,” snagged 22 nominations and leads the pack.

Emmy favorite “Better Call Saul” was absent from the nominations on Thursday.

The reason is simple — the AMC drama is debuting its fourth season in August instead of the typical April, which is just out of the Emmy eligibility period.

The Emmy Award show will be broadcast on Sept. 17.
