‘Making a connection’

Jared & The Mill eager to tour, ‘share our music with the world’

Jared Kolesar is embracing his last couple days of sleeping in.

That’s because the musician is headed out on tour for a few weeks. “I’m stoked to hit the road,” he says. “I’m also really enjoying sleeping in for a few days. I don’t get enough sleep on the road.”

Kolesar is the vocalist for indie rock band Jared & The Mill.

The band is rounded out by Michael Carter, Larry Gast III, Chuck Morris III and Josh Morin.

The Arizona-based outfit is also readying the album “This Story Is No Longer Available,” scheduled to be released before the end of the year.

It was recorded in Joshua Tree and Silver Lake, Calif.

“We’re just focusing on singles right now,” he says. “We’re trying to be as strategic as we can. We’re trying to make each release as good as possible. Now we have the insight of how we want to do things.”

In the past couple of months, the band has released two singles from the album.

We’re not putting any pressure on ourselves,” he says. “The singles route seems to be the best fit for us now. And by the end of the year, the album will be out. Then we will celebrate.”

For the better part of a decade, Kolesar and the band have toured the country nonstop.

Kolesar says being able to present the new music is thrilling for the band.

“Because we’ve spent too much time with it, we’re itching to get it all out,” he says. “The best part about being able to travel around the country and perform is that we are sharing our music with the world. We are making a connection that continues to grow.”
