Clifford Everett Trollinger passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 8, 2018. He was born in Trinidad, CO on September 12, 1926. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and John Thomas Trollinger. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bertha; three children, Vincent Trollinger and wife, Danice, Julie Bachechi and husband, Pete, and Everett Trollinger and wife, Tammy; four grandchild­ren, Ryan Trollinger (Mandi), Jeffrey Trollinger (Ellen), Emily Trollinger, and Tyler Trollinger; two great-grandchild­ren, Alexander and Lunaria Trollinger; five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and numerous nephews and nieces.

His father was a conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad and his family settled in Raton, NM where he attended grade and high school before enlisting in the Navy. Clifford was a World War II Veteran, serving his country as a metalsmith on the repair ship USS Agenor in the Battle of Iwo Jima, where he witnessed the raising of the U.S. Flag. After moving to Albuquerqu­e in 1954, he held a master gas license with Southern Union Gas Company, later retiring from General Electric Aircraft in 1989. He enjoyed fishing and hunting all his life and spent quality time at the family cabin in northern New Mexico.

Clifford was a loving man of faith, a quiet man, very patient, and never complained. He was the family’s shining light, and will be greatly missed. Special thanks to CareSource, Armada Hospice, and to his longtime caregiver, Nancy Goetz.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with Mass to be celebrated immediatel­y following at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributi­ons may be made in his name to local chapters of Alzheimer’s Associatio­n, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
