Henry L. Bretton
Henry L. Bretton, age 102, a resident of Albuquerque since 1995, passed away on July 31, 2018.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth More Bretton, M.D. and her husband, John F. Lorio. Hewas predeceased by his mother, Betty Sinclair; his wife, Marian; and their son, Alexander.
Born in May, 1916 in Berlin, Germany, Henry emigrated to the U.S. in 1938, followed by his mother. His Military Service from 1943 to 1945 included service in the European Theater of War with Military Intelligence and OSS, earning the Bronze and Battle Stars.
He was a graduate of Yale, BA (1947) and the U of Michigan, Ph.D. (1951) and taught Political Science at the U of M, the College at Brockport of the State University of NY, and, as a Visiting Professor at universities in West and East Africa and in Austria, retiring as Distinguished Professor in 1985.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Wyoming.
Memorial Service will be Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo del Norte NE Albuquerque, and NM 87122.
Inerment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with Military Honors.
