SEVEN YEARS AGO, I thought UNM made a good hire with Bob Davie. Fast forward to now, I feel no differently. I think Davie is a quality coach, hired to take on an impossible task. Making matters worse, he now has a team that is totally out of control, with an onslaught of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, and more recently, an intra-squad physical altercation that landed a teammate in the hospital. The last few games been painful to watch, attendance is in free-fall, and for the wellbeing of the program, a change needs to be made. — Bob, UNM Area BOB DAVIE isn’t going anywhere as he’s contracted through 2021 with hundreds of thousands of dollars involved. Toss in his son being an assistant coach and his son-in-law being the Assistant AD for Football Operations, and unless UNM buys out Davie’s contract (which they can’t afford to do), what we see, I guess, is what we get. With the new offensive coordinator, Lobo fans thought they were going to get a combination of the option and spread designed to confuse opponents. The Lobos have only confused themselves. Go back exclusively to the option offense (and confer with Rocky regarding defense). — JJ AFTER GAME 3 of the World Series lasted 7 hours 20 minutes, I believe tiebreaking rules deserve consideration. For example after 5 hours or 13 innings, start with a runner on 2nd base. And, I’m a baseball traditionalist. 2. The Dodgers are now 6-14 in the World Series. I believe they’re tied with the Cards & Giants for most N.L. World Series appearances. — WRT
