60+ families earn iPads
LAS CRUCES — Families from four Las Cruces public schools received iPads for participating in summer courses, according to a news release.
More than 60 families participated in “Tech Goes Home” courses offered through the Las Cruces Public Schools Division of Equity, Innovation and Social Justice. The classes taught families how to use iPads to assist their child with schoolwork. All classes were taught in Spanish.
The district said the iPads were provided through a grant secured by Anita Hernandez, the Don and Sarrah Kidd Endowed Chair in Literacy at New Mexico State University’s College of Education. The ENLACE Southern New Mexico program at Doña Ana Community College facilitated purchases of equipment and instructional support.
“Providing opportunities like this one for parents is what Las Cruces Public Schools is all about,” LCPS Superintendent Greg Ewing said.
