Shooting outside Downtown club leads to arrest
Victim, who was shot twice, is hospitalized, but no report on condition
A suspect is behind bars after police say he shot a man early Monday morning outside a club in Downtown Albuquerque.
Jesus Astorga, 40, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence and negligent use of a deadly weapon.
The shooting victim, Eduard Javalera, was taken to a hospital and police have not given an update on his injuries.
According to a criminal complaint, officers were called to a shooting outside Posh Night Club at 405 Central NW around midnight.
A security guard told police the fight turned to a shooting when a man, identified as Jorge Dominguez, fired a gun into the ground.
Police say Astorga then told Dominguez “give me that gun” and took the weapon before unloading five shots at Javalera, striking him twice.
According to the complaint, Dominguez and Astorga fled and Javalera was taken to a hospital.
Police say deputies found the vehicle, with Astorga inside, a “short time later.” Astorga was also taken to a hospital for “superficial injuries” from the fight.
Deputies told police there was a handgun in the vehicle, close to where Astorga was sitting.
It is unclear how serious Javalera’s injuries are or if police are seeking Dominguez in connection to the shooting and a police spokesman could not be reached.
