SPORTS SPEAK UP!

I HOPE PAUL WEIR does not turn into another Bob Davie, not giving deserving NM kids scholarships, and I don’t think he will. But he undoubtedly missed on Michael Ou of Menaul. — BillyYazzie

WOULD “NM NATIVE” (or anyone else) please define a “deserving New Mexican” in regards to UNM athletic scholarships. Does an athlete have to be born in NM, lived here all their life, and graduate from a NM high school? You people are always complaining about not enough “NM kids” without defining what they are. — Joe, ABQ

AS A LIFE-LONG Dallas Cowboys fan, 55 years, it’s time to pull the plug on Garrett/ Linehan show. The Cowboys are poorly coached, poorly prepared and are not mentally ready to play and are so predictable on offense. As for Dak Prescott, I admire him as a person, but he simply is not a good QB right now. Then there is ole Jer giving up a No. 1 pick for Cooper, oops! Hijo, you’re killing me Caballeros! — John J. Krapcha, ABQ

WINNING NOT BIG ENOUGH? Coach Mike Bradbury, knock it off! Your team wins by almost 50 points and you spend the postgame complaining about how bad they played. You remind me of the dad whose son could never live up to his expectations, so the son finally gives up. You may know a lot about basketball technique but you need some help in people skills. — PD

LOBO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Why did they change the music prior to player introductions for the UNM women’s games? I liked it from last year, it was a tune that energized the fans. Let’s go back to yester years. — jpb

WOULD IT HAVE killed (y’all) to give a colunm inch or two to the NASCAR race in Texas in Monday’s paper and save that UNM football postmortem until Tuesday or Wednesday? NASCAR is building to a thrilling finish to “The Chase” while UNM football is building a new sub-basement for the 2018 season. — MAL, Albuquerque

FOURTH QUARTER, about 7 minutes left. Lobos lead. 3rd down and long. Lobo QB passes to WR who makes a diving grab. Refs call: completion (but very questionable), first down. They spot the ball. Play clock starts. Lobos need to snap it ASAP before an official review is called. Instead, they go into slow motion, waiting for a play call from the sideline. Oops. Official review. Call reversed. Fourth and long. Lobos punt. Game over. How can those of us sitting in the stands see and understand that immediately and the offensive coordinator cannot? — Corrales Guy
