Alocal pub known for its good food and drink is helping those who might not know when their next meal might be.

O’Niell’s Nob Hill is hosting a food drive on Thursday, Nov. 15, with all proceeds of the sale of a special craft beer going to Roadrunner Food Bank. National Distributing has donated a rare keg of New Belgium’s Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA, and 100 percent of the proceeds from that keg will go to the food bank.

“It’s an Imperial IPA, so it’s quite hoppy and a little bit more octane as opposed to normal IPAs, but nothing overpowering,” said Jeff Trent, O’Niell’s operations manager. “It’s just a full-flavored, fullbodied IPA.”

A portion of the food sales will be donated to the food bank. Patrons also are encouraged to bring cans of food. The canned food donations will be accepted at both O’Niell’s locations in Albuquerque.

The food drive event will be happening throughout the day, but the focus is attracting the afterwork crowd. The main event will start at 5 p.m. National Distributing will be on hand with some swag and gifts for guests as a thank-you for helping support the cause. Representatives from Nob Hill Main Street and the Nob Hill Neighborhood Association also will be there.

O’Niell’s Heights is also giving back to the community.

On Nov. 17, it will host a community night benefiting Rebel Paws, which helps dogs in the community, including dogs in shelters, homeless dogs and dogs that are neglected and alone. It helps to provide medical care, vaccinations, spay and neuter options and food, according to the Rebel Paws’ Facebook page. The event will feature pint specials on selected Stone Brewing Co. and Rogue Ales.

“They will have Santa Paws,” Trent said. “People can take their pets and have their picture taken with Santa Claus. It is also for kids not just pets. If (guests) have children we’ll definitely do that. It will be a community night, as well. … We’ll have money donated towards Rebel Paws to help with the doggos and puppers.”
