Intruder shot, killed at business on Jefferson

Police say a man shot and killed a person trespassing on his property Friday night in northeast Albuquerque.

Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Daren DeAguero said a man called officers to report a person on his property in the 4800 block of Jefferson NE, near McLeod, after business hours.

“The owner called the police but at some point was confronted by the subject,” DeAguero said just before 11 p.m. “Gunfire was exchanged between the property owner and subject.”

He said the suspect was found dead afterward.

Officers were at the scene late Friday continuing their investigation and no other information was immediately available.
