Patricia D. Hill
Patricia D. Hill, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, age 90, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018. She was born in Ponca City, OK on March 15, 1928, to Joseph and Pauline Carpenter. A huge proponent of education, she graduated college Phi Beta Kappa from Oklahoma State University. Shortly after graduation she was recruited by the government to work in the Civil Service. While working in San Antonio Texas, she met the love of her life and two short months later she became Mrs. Jack Emerson Hill. During her marriage she worked as an insurance underwriter for over 25 years. Earning many accolades she had the distinction of becoming the first female insurance underwriter in the State of New Mexico and was a member of the CPIWCertified Professional Insurance Women. As a military wife, she explored her love of traveling and enjoyed supporting every Officers’ Wives club at each duty station. An avid reader she spent late night hours, curled up in her easy chair and daylight hours in the garden. She never missed an opportunity to add to her extensive giraffe collection. Before her illness she was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Albuquerque. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen K. Hill and Melanie Hill Byers of Albuquerque; son, William Emerson Hill and wife, Enna, of Aurora, CO; brother, Carl Joseph Carpenter of Cleveland, OK; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and Alfie, the dog. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 26, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Wyoming Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. A reception will follow at 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Wyoming Chapel Sunroom. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. "We appreciate all the love and support that our family has received over the years of her illness."
