1948-2018 Floyd Roger Smith, age 70, was released from his earlthly bonds on Saturday, November 25, 2018. He passed at the VA hospital in Albuquerqu­e. He was 70 years old. Floyd was born on November 7, 1948 in Albuquerqu­e, NM He was the second of 6 children born to Wanda June Raley. Floyd grew up all over New Mexico as the family moved a lot due to his fateher being employed in road constructi­on. He lived in Albuquerqu­e, Roy, Carlsbad, Tucumcari, Kingston, Caballo, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, and Lordsburg. Floyd graduated from high school in 1966 and jouned the Army in 1967. He served in Vietnam where he earned and was awarded 3 purple hearts. Floyd was honorably discharged in 1970 as a disabled veteran. He lived briefly in Montana where he met and married his wife in 1971. He also spent a short time in Arizona, but ultimately returned to his native New Mexico home in the late 1970’s. Floyd performed several jobs after his discharge from the Army. He was a heavy equipment operator, car salesman, vacuum cleaner salesman, appliance repairman, refrigerat­ed air installer and repairman before deciding to be se mi-tractor/trailer driver. Floyd drove for over 40 years, logged over 12 million miles and drove through all 48 states in his travels. His failing health led to his retirement and at his passing, he was a 100% military connected, disabled veteran. Floyd is and will be forever dearly missed by his family. Floyd is survived by his mother, Wanda June Raley; 3 brothers, Roy, John, and Ben; 2 sisters, Wanda and Annalee and their spouces; 2 children, Kenneth Roger and Tina Marie; and 3 grandchild­ren, Justin Earl, Shyann Marie and Dominick Anthony. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews.
