ONE OF Paul Weir’s mentors, Steve Alford, often told his UNM players that unless they could guard someone, they wouldn’t be playing. I’m not sure who would have played for the Lobos vs. the Aggies. A Merry Christmas to NMSU coach Chris Jans, who earned an extra $10,000 again this year for sweeping (or should we say, destroying) UNM. With Bob Davie evaluating everything, I’d suggest that Paul Weir do the same. We want to support him, but the nearest road heading out of town is paved for getting swept by NMSU. WHAT DIVISION I college football conference does not play its championship game on a neutral field but chooses instead to play in the cold and snow? Why it’s the MWC Conference (AKA Bush League) of course. And which school does that so often favor? Why it’s the darling of the MWC, Boise State, of course. — Corrales Guy
