-

Walter Cled Berry, Jr passed peacefully from this life in Albuquerque, New Mexico on December 02, 2018 at the age of 81.

Walt was a devoted Christian and family man.

Walt was known as “Dub” to many family and friends in Texas, New Mexico, and California.

He grew up in Texas and California, and graduated from Mission Bay High School in San Diego. He attended San Diego State College, and graduated from Abilene Christian College.

He loved being with family and friends. He served as a deacon for the church of Christ in California and Montana. He loved rough housing with the boys when they were young, taking the boys hunting, attending their sports and school activities, and taking them into the mountains to target practice, gather firewood, and go 4wheeling, and spending time with them at Family Camp in Yellowstone Bible Camp. He worked as an auditor for Occidental Life Insurance Company in L.A., and an auditor for the State of Montana for 25 years. He loved Montana and travelled the state year round in all types of weather.

He spent thousands of hours as a treasurer, registrar, volunteer, and Board Member for Yellowstone Bible Camp in Pray, Montana. He spent many years doing genealogy research for various family lines.

Walt had a quick wit and a great sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with friends and family.

In his last years, he suffered with vascular dementia and the Walt his family and friends knew and loved slowly slipped away from us.

He supported orphanages and children’s homes in India and the U.S. To honor Walt, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Mexico Children’s Home in Portales or Albuquerque Christian Children’s Home.

A memorial celebrating Walt’s life will be held at the Edgewood Church of Christ (weather permitting) on December 15th at 11 AM followed by a reception. Please come and join our family in celebrating his life. Cremation is in the care of the Neptune Society. Please sign the online guestbook at Legacy.com
