O’Maury Samuels has been arraigned on two charges, including one for domestic violence, in Ann Arbor, Mich.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — O’Maury Samuels, who starred at Los Lunas High School, has been dismissed from the University of Michigan football program on the same day he was arraigned on two charges, including one for domestic violence.

The school did not say why the move was made Wednesday, when Samuels was charged with domestic violence and malicious destructio­n of personal property. The date of the alleged offenses was Dec. 8, and Samuels is scheduled for a hearing on Dec. 27 in Ann Arbor District Court.

The sophomore finished the season with 13 rushing attempts for 66 yards. He did not run the ball for the eighth-ranked Wolverines after Oct. 13, when he had one carry for 3 yards in a win over Wisconsin.

TEMPLE: Temple has hired Miami defensive coordinato­r Manny Diaz as its next head coach, a person familiar with the negotiatio­ns told The Associated Press on Wednesday night.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the school was planning to make the deal official today.

Diaz replaces Geoff Collins, who left Temple after two seasons to become coach at Georgia Tech last week.

SYRACUSE: Football coach Dino Babers has signed a contract extension, the school announced Wednesday night.

Details of the deal were not revealed, but the school said in a news release that the contract will keep Babers, in his third season, at the “helm of the program well into the future.”

Syracuse finished the regular season 9-3 and ranked No. 17. The Orange also appeared in all six releases of the College Football Playoff rankings and are seeking just the seventh 10-win season in school history. They are headed to the Camping World Bowl, where they will play No. 15 West Virginia in their first postseason appearance in five years.

Babers, a finalist for national coach of the year, shared coach of the year honors in the Atlantic Coast Conference with Clemson’s Dabo Swinney.

MISSOURI: Defensive end Tre Williams was charged Wednesday in a domestic assault case.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reported that probable cause statement alleges Williams and his girlfriend argued early Sunday and that he hit her several times while she was driving and at one point began choking her. The woman eventually was able to drive away. Williams, a 21-year-old redshirt sophomore, remains indefinite­ly suspended from the team.

NFL DRAFT: All-American running back Darrell Henderson says he’s leaving Memphis after his junior season for the NFL draft.

He is second nationally with 1,909 yards rushing and averages 8.9 yards per carry on 214 rushes. Henderson leads the nation with 2,328 all-purpose yards and 22 rushing TDs.

… Running back Devin Singletary is skipping his final season at Florida Atlantic and entering the NFL draft.

Singletary rushed for 54 touchdowns over the last two seasons.
