CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Brandon Broshious, 9, of Albuquerqu­e caught his first trout by himself, an 18.5-inch rainbow Nov. 30 at Monastery Lake. He was using night crawlers.

Elijah Boyd, 13, of Roswell caught his first trout, an 18-inch rainbow trout Dec. 1 at Bottomless Lakes. He was using a red Panther Martin.

NOTES from GAME & FISH: Fishing at TINGLEY BEACH was very good using PowerBait, wax worms and salmon eggs for trout.

Fishing on the ALBUQUERQU­E, BELEN, CORRALES AND PERALTA DRAINS was good using salmon eggs, PowerBait, wax worms, small pheasant tail nymphs and copper John Barrs for trout.

At COCHITI LAKE, fishing was fair using crank baits, minnows and night crawlers for a mixed bag of white bass, catfish and walleye.

Stream flow on the SAN JUAN RIVER below Navajo Lake on Monday morning was 289 cfs. Fishing was good using RS2s, Griffiths gnats, CDCs, red larva, BWOs, bead head pheasant tails and small egg patterns for brown and rainbow trout. There have been some decent hatches coming off on the cloudy days. Through the bait waters, trout fishing was fair using salmon eggs, wax worms, copper John Barrs and BWOs.

Monday morning flows on the CHAMA RIVER below El Vado and Abiquiu were 81.5 cfs and 125 cfs respective­ly. Trout fishing at both locations was fair to good using small streamers, prince nymphs, San Juan worms, worms and salmon eggs.

Fishing at UTE LAKE was fair to good vertical jigging with blade baits and spoons at 30 to 40 feet for white bass and walleye.

Stream flow on the PECOS RIVER near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 21.0 cfs. Fishing in the Villanueva area was fair using copper John Barrs, San Juan worms and PowerBait for trout.

Stream flow on the RED RIVER below the hatchery on Monday morning was 34.0 cfs. Trout fishing below Questa was good using Fire Balls, PowerBait, wooly buggers and spinners.

Stream flow on the RIO GRANDE at the Taos Junction Bridge was 311 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good using streamers, San Juan worms, spoons, worms and salmon eggs.

At ELEPHANT BUTTE LAKE, fishing was slow to fair using liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. Fishing for white bass was fair using blade baits and spoons.

Fishing at ALUMNI POND was very good using Velveeta cheese and PowerBait for trout.

At PERCH LAKE, fishing was very good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, worms and copper John Barrs for trout.

Fishing was very good at GLENWOOD POND using PowerBait for trout.

At LAKE ROBERTS, fishing was very good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and spinners for trout.

At YOUNG POND, fishing was very good using PowerBait for trout.

Fishing at ALTO LAKE was good using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.

At BATAAN LAKE, fishing was good using PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout.

FENTON LAKE is completely frozen and unsafe for ice fishing at this time. For updates, call the state park office at 575-829-3630.

As of this past week, there was a thin layer of ice on MANZANO LAKE and no fishing.

EAGLE NEST LAKE is closed to boating and fishing due to unsafe ice conditions. For updates, call the state park office at 575-377-1594.

There is a thin layer of ice on LAKE ALICE and it is closed to fishing at this time.

As of Monday morning, the majority of LAKE MALOYA was iced over, with just a small area of open water in the boat ramp area.

As of this past week, MONASTERY LAKE was completely frozen over and is closed to ice fishing.

As of Monday, BLUEWATER LAKE was closed to boating and a minimal amount of open shoreline for bank fishing. For updates, call the state park office at 505-876-2391.
