BRIEF PEACE: On Christmas Day 1914, not long after the start of Word War I, a series of unofficial, temporary truces spread across the Western Front. In a brief moment of peace, thousands of British and German soldiers came together to sing carols and exchange small gifts, and are said to have even played a game of soccer together. The brutal battles continued the next day. This not-so-oftendiscussed piece of history is brought to life in “All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914,” a production created by Minneapolis’ Theater Latté Da. The nationally touring musical is making its second-to-last stop in Santa Fe later this week. “All is Calm” will be staged 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lensic, 211 W. San Francisco. Ticket prices range from $14.50-$110. They can be purchased at ticketssantafe.org, by phone at (505) 988-1234 or at the Lensic Box Office.

CHRISTMAS CLASSIC: The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s interpretation of a Christmas classic comes to the Lensic stage this weekend with the annual productions of “The Nutcracker.”

The performances, intended to delight audience members young and old, are Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 1 and 5 p.m.

The Santa Fe shows feature more than 60 performers from the ASFB ensemble, guest dancers and students from the local School of ASFB. “Nutcracker” tickets cost between $36-$94 and can be purchased online at ticketssantafe.org, by phone at (505) 988-1234 or at the Lensic Box Office.
