ESPAÑOLA HUMANE

Happy New Year from northern NM … and from Española Humane alumni Bijou (not for adoption) and two foster babies she’s caring for, Noelle (left) and Little Buffalo (right). Noelle and Little Buffalo came in separately, both found after being attacked by roaming dogs. Noelle suffered a leg broken in two places, a fracture to her face and infected puncture wounds. Shelter vets stitched up her lacerations and set her leg. Little Buffalo suffered severe head trauma and had such enormous swelling that she looked like, well, a little buffalo. She required drains to remove fluid from her head, antibiotics, pain medication and antibiotic ointment for her eyes. But she’s now on an upward trend and healing much more quickly with the companionship and watchful eye of Bijou and her foster sister Noelle. Here’s to a better 2019 for these two precious babies. Once they are released from foster care, they will be ready to go to their forever homes. Feel free to inquire about them. Meet Chico! This little guy is looking for a lap of his very own. He is a 10-yearold poodle that came to the shelter off the cold streets. He was thin and had matted curls in need of grooming. He enjoys belly rubs, head scratches and any extra affection he can get from humans. He would love to live in a quiet home with a family that would enjoy the company of an older lap dog. Give this munchkin the life he deserves.

These dogs and many others may be adopted daily from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at Española Humane, 108 Hamm Parkway in Española. 505-753-8662. To see more adoptable pets, log on to www. evalleyshelter.org or www. petango.com.
