Denise Gauthier, born May 28, 1952, passed away on Jan 6, 2018 at home surrounded by family and friends after an extended and courageous battle with cancer. Denise was born in Hartford, CT to parents George (Ed) and Marie Gauthier. She was a nurse anesthetist for 41 years. After her training at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, she served in the U.S. Air Force for 2 years. Denise lived life to the fullest and with zest. She enjoyed scuba diving trips and road tripping with friends. Her greatest joy was her family and friends. She was predeceased by her father, George, and her brother, Michael. She is survived by her loving husband Michael Hamilton, son Kiel Kew, mother Marie O’Brien, and brother Joseph Gauthier (wife Becky Jernigan), Katrina Wagner (husband Adam), grandchildren Jason and Gemma Wagner, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members too numerous to mention. Her family is grateful for the tender care given to Denise by Hospice of New Mexico. We would also like to thank her longtime friend and "sister of the heart" Alice Marshall. Alice walked with Denise every step of the way on this long, painful journey. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations on behalf of Denise Gauthier may be made to Watermelon Mountain Ranch, 3251 Westphalia Loop NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144; Hospice of New Mexico, 2900 Louisiana Blvd NE Ste. 100, Albuquerque, NM 87110; or the American Cancer Society.
